I titled our blog post "Super Leaders" because that is what we are going to become this year in Kindergarten! The students liked that better than "Smart Cookies" :) I was fine with that because we are also going to be starting to learn how to be LEADERS in our classroom, home and in the world! I attended a "Leader In Me," workshop this summer and loved it. The framework is based on the Steven Covey's book, Seven Habits of Highly Effective People. These 7 habits are going to be the backbone of our classroom community. Next week, we will start to learn what it means to be PROACTIVE :) Big word with lots of responsibility! Our library has copies of the Leader In Me, book about how this works in schools.
Next week we will also be starting our LETTER EXPERTS. Each child will be responsibly for teaching the class about a letter of the alphabet. I will send home the homework on the Friday before your child is the expert the next week. Please send their homework back on the date listed on the paper. This will be very important to the students because they are the expert of that letter all year to help the other students. I will also put the schedule in the blog and send you a DOJO reminder :)
Letter Rr: Aryah (8/25)
Letter Ss: Mady (8/26)
Letter Nn: Aleah (8/27)
Letter Tt: Cash (8/28)
Class DOJO, thank you ALL for getting set up on DOJO this week! I can't wait to send you all pics from our day as well as communication when needed about important updates and reminders. I will still be using Remind for advanced scheduled events going on in the school.
School Supplies: I realized this week when going through the students supplies that spiral notebook was not on the list this year. However, we do use these in class for WORD WORK (sight word and name practice). If you could please send in a spiral notebook next week. It DOES NOT have to be a specific color, actually let the kiddos pick one they like to make it personal :)
Wish list items, things that we do use in our classroom if you are wanting to donate. These include but are not limited to; play dough, colored regular paper (primary and neon), card stock, stickers, Teacher Pay Teachers, Hobby Lobby, iTunes, etc. Thank you in advance for helping! I do appreciate all the parents who are also willing to volunteer in the classroom and at home that is so very helpful and I am grateful to have such supportive parents this year! :)
