Upcoming Dates
March 25: No School
March 28: Snow Make Up Day- School is in session!
March 31: Walking field trip to the High School to see Bayou Bugs (a musical from the high school theater) This is free and the following is a description of the play. I think it will be a lot of fun!!
Bayou Bug Tales is based on the fable of the ant and the grasshopper, but includes many other buggy creatures from the bayou. With toe-tapping songs and colorful characters, Bayou Bug Tales explores the challenges and the changing of seasons and of ourselves. Everything we know and are familiar with changes and transforms into something new, but there are always recognizable elements. When surrounded and supported by family and friends the change isn’t so scary. It is our community and created families which guide and embrace our differences and strengths.
April 1: Tiger Pride
April 5: Kindergarten Music Program @ 7:00
April 19: Field Trip to see Junie B. Jones at Lander's Theater, lunch at a park after.
Summer School
If you would like to register your child for summer school please click HERE. I think Summer School is great for extra practice on reading, writing, and math skills. However, I understand that kids need time to be kids. If you need more information or wish to discuss what would be best for your student, please let me know.
Report Cards
DO NOT be alarmed when report cards come home on Thursday. The reading trackers are showing 0% remediation (red). That is a misprint. In the data notebooks the "RF.K.2 Assessment" that covers rhyming, syllables, segmenting, sounds and sound switch, is the assessment that we did for this quarter. You may look to see how your child performed on this assessment. In writing we used their informational writing at the back of the Data Notebook for this. The students did really well with this writing. Math could look mostly red too. That is because we entered a shapes checklist where students had to name 8/9 2D and 3D shapes. As a kindergarten our scores were not as high as we would have liked. We will be spending time reteaching this and it will be reassessed by the end of the year. Do not be alarmed. :) Please let me know if have any questions! I also put their current sight word list that I have them working on and a writing check list as a resource for you.
**** Please take a look at their progress and then send the notebooks back in for the last quarter
Have a great week!
