Well I'm not sure what happened with my last post and I am sorry that it disappeared. OOPS!
I sure hope everyone got to get outside over break and get some much needed vitamin D :) I know I sure did. We got a new student this week which puts us at 23 students.
In Math, we are starting to learn how to Make 10. This means we are learning different ways to produce ten in an addition problem. The kids have really caught on to this. We will also be reviewing number bonds.
In Science, we are starting our last unit which is all about living/non-living things, life cycles and adult/off spring. This is a fun unit because we get to learn about plants, bugs and animals.
In Writing, we also started a new unit where the students get to voice their opinions about something they would like to change in the community or school. This should be interesting to hear how they will persuade others to think like they do about something. :)
I am looking forward to ending the year strong with guided reading and seeing just how far these kiddos can come this year. Please continue to work on sight words and reading their books at home. This will add to fluency of reading and accuracy. Also remember to be asking your kiddo what the book was about or retelling the story from beginning to end (remembering details is an important part of comprehension).
