The students are learning and growing so much and I almost can't keep up ;) We are writing multiple sentences in our Writer's Notebooks and reading actual books! The other teachers that see the kids say they could probably take over for me :) We defiantly have the routine down pat, it is funny when something does change you can just see it all over their little faces, saying, " Mrs. Jackson what's going on?" We have started addition in Math this week and they are catching on very quickly. The standard for Kindergarten is to know the facts up through 5s fluently. This just means that they need to have them memorized so flash cards at home will be great or just practice random problems. They are also working on story problems.
Spelling Words: We will just review for the next two weeks words learned so far.
Please continue to work on the sight lists your child is bringing home. I have been so impressed with how well the students are enjoying these. They actually get the word lists out at "Read to Self" to practice them. :)

DRA
The next two weeks I am giving the student's the DRA (developmental reading assessment) and this is the assessment that I use to know what reading level they are on. After I have completed giving this to the entire class, I will send information home explaining what skills you can work on with your child at home when reading and what level they are at. They will be placed in guided reading groups based on the level they are on.
