In writing, we have been learning how to stretch words and hear sounds in our writing. We have been working hard putting personal narrative books together. Yes, you heard right BOOKS, we are becoming authors and illustrators!
In Math, we are working with numbers through 10 now and learning how to put parts together to make a whole number, example 3 and 2 make 5. Please continue to practice at home as well, some are struggling with the making numbers patterns.
In reading, we have been learning about characters, visualizing the story to make a movie in our heads, we are also learning about how we can connect with the characters. All of this helps us to understand the books we are reading.
Sight words: Continue to work with your child on their sight word lists at home, they are getting pretty excited about mastering these! Also, if your child brings home an "emergent reader" (a paper book) that we have learned in class and you sign it saying they read it to you they can return it for a treat! I will then return it home, these are great practice books for them to keep in a special place to read by themselves :)
