Next week we kick of COLORS! We will be learning how to spell and identify the colors. In order to help we will be wearing a different color each day. This is also just a fun activity to reinforce our learning. Be looking for the notes to come home each day to tell you what color to wear next :) I will also send reminders and a list will be at the bottom of this blog post.
This week we started SCIENCE, and the students seemed to really enjoy "making observations" about items classmates brought in. We talked about how we use our 5 senses to make these observations about things all around us. Please continue to send in items for us to observe!
In math, we have been talking about the number 4 this week. We also started sorting items by characteristics (color, size, shape). Up next... number 5!
In reading, the students have made it between 5-10 minutes of silent sustained READ TO SELF. This is our 1st Daily 5 activity that we have learned and practiced. Next week we will be starting WORD WORK, which is where they will learn to write and read sight words. I will be introducing the words, I and THE.
Over all it has been another great week here in Kindergarten! The students are doing a great job learning our rules and expectations. If you ever have any questions about what we are doing or how it's going please do not hesitate to contact me :)
